Scanlan, Buckle & Young, P.C. is the successor firm to Scanlan & Buckle, P.C. Scanlan & Buckle was founded in 1978 as a partnership between John Scanlan and Tom Buckle. John Scanlan and Tom Buckle met in 1969 when Tom was a law student at the University of Texas while John was one of the two teaching faculty members who established the modern clinical legal aid program for the law school. That legal aid program was the first truly clinical legal education program established at the University of Texas Law School and became the model for numerous clinical legal education programs subsequently offered by the law school.
