Municipal Law

The firm has won some significant victories in municipal law cases, representing both cities and citizens challenging cities. In the 1998 case Slider v. City of Sunset Valley, the firm successfully defended the City of Sunset Valley in claims asserted by a developer who alleged that his project was grandfathered from current regulations as a result of SB 1704, now Loc. Gov't Code Chapter 245. The firm obtained a final judgment exempting the City's entire watershed ordinance from the operation of State grandfathering statutes.

 

In 2003, Doug Young represented a private citizen in a suit that resulted in the City of Austin terminating an obligation to provide subsidies to the Domain retail project.
